Vita, Video Games, Venice, and Vipertek

Remember how I was debating about getting a PS4, Wii U, or the 3DS? Yeah, I didn’t decide on any of those.

20150331_220030

Instead I did some research and decided that getting a PS Vita would be best. (1) It is portable which is great because I’m rarely home except for the weekends, and (2) I can play a shitload of PS One classics without having to deal with my PS2 giving up mid-gameplay. So, needless to say, I’m excited! I got this combo pack with a free Borderlands 2 download and 8 GB memory card for $200. Good deal. And when I do eventually get a PS4 I can link the systems to do more nifty things. I’m looking forward to that. ^___^

20150402_213524

Getting this game was a must. I’m 100% here for Final Fantasy X, especially since I lost my master file on the PS2 years back. It was… frustrating. I was so proud of that file because Yuna was the strongest melee fighter in my party and it was fucking hilarious at times. Anyhoo, restarting again doesn’t bother me. It’s high time that I did another FFX replay. As for FFX-2 I’ll might replay it for the battle system, but I’m not making any promises.

20150404_092721

From top to bottom: FFX HD (with a FFX-2 that I didn’t install yet), Chrono Cross, Final Fantasy VII, Final Fantasy IX, Final Fantasy VI, Bust-A-Move 4, and Xenogears. I’m not going to bother installing Borderlands 2 since I already have it on the 360. And it’s huge in terms of memory usage. Of course there are some Final Fantasy games missing from this collection but I’m trying not to overwhelm myself anymore than I already have. I didn’t think I would be overwhelmed until I played Xenogears for an hour turned it off to play Chrono Cross up to Arni Village, turned that off to start on FFIX, turned that off to play Chrono Cross again, turned that off to play FFX, and… yeah… I think each time I complete a Final Fantasy then I’m going to move on to another. FFVII will be last because I just did a replay last year. So, I’ll tackle IX or VI, then download VIII since I never finished my Steam playthrough, and keep repeating that pattern until I have everything from I to X. As for other PS games I’m just going to take it easy for a little while. It’s one thing to get games like Bust-A-Move that are fun ways to shoot the shit, but RPGs take a lot of focus. At least for me. *sigh* This is all sounds like first world problems, doesn’t it. LOL. Yeah, I’m going to stop and just say–overwhelming or not–I am over the moon about having these games around to play again. Except for Xenogears. This is my first time playing Xenogears (so ashamed ;_;), so I can’t say “again”. But I can say it is extremely awesome and I already adore Citan. Please don’t disappoint me. >_<

I couldn’t walk away from this sketchbook because, well, it’s obviously aesthetically pleasing, but I also kept hearing “Tour of Venice” and “Dream of Venice” when I looked at it. After I told Mark about that he advised me to draw Ezio leaping across one of the buildings in the background. Yes! I’m going to do it. LOL. Anyway, we had a long discussion afterwards about the fact that we have never been overseas together, and while it seems like the obvious choice would be Japan I am leaning more towards Italy. I want to do a sort of tour, going from Rome to Venice to Florence. I mean, we did meet in Latin class after all. It would not be a meaningless trip when we put into consideration all the aspects of Italian history that we both love and can thank for bringing us together. So, that’s it. I want to go to Italy. Even if I can just go to one city then I will go to one city. Half of me is screaming “Rome!” while the other is like “Dude, Venice has boat rides and the Carnival of Venice!” I think if I remind Mark that he can wear his beloved plague doctor mask for hours at a time then he will be up for Venice too. Okay, Venice it is. I’m going to start saving and planning for it. I also need to consider putting aside my other language lessons in order to start working on Italian. I’ve taken a swing at Italian in the past, and all of those years of Latin makes it a tad easier to understand than say Japanese or German. I’m excited. I only hope it works out better than other plans I’ve made. LOL

20150403_042308

Last but not least my first taser, Vipertek. I feel so much better now that I have this. Four days a week I have to drop Mark off at work at three in the morning, and that is not the most comforting time to be outside on your own–even if it’s only a 10-second run from the parking lot to your apartment. It is slightly terrifying to own though. I’m always worried that I’ll accidentally turn it on somehow and electrocute myself. LOL. I don’t even have to do something moronic like testing it on myself to know that it will hurt. We armed it yesterday to see how it would look, and it was LOUD. Sparkly but loud. I can only compare the sound to the crack of a whip. I shrieked but Mark thought it was cool. Then again, this is the same guy who spent his birthday money and giftcards on knives, so he would. -_-

Well, I’m off. Later in the day I want to pick up some Italian language books, but before that I have to look into getting another bookshelf, doing some serious spring cleaning, getting groceries in the house, and just being semi-productive this weekend. In between I will squeeze in some gaming time. Since I want to play so many games I will have to dedicate 30-60 minutes on each game. A little Xenogears there, a little FFIX there, a little Bioshock Infinite after that, a little Assassin’s Creed 2 too. Oh! Gold members get a free AC: Black Flag and Army of Two on the 16th. DUUUUUUUDDDEEE. All Mark and I ever talk about these days are those fucking naval battle clips we see in Black Flag. I can’t wait. ; u ;

Really, it’s nice that I am getting back into video games like. It’s not like I ever stopped playing between the age of five and… now, but recent years have been kind of “eh”, you know? I’m so into it now that I am returning to that point where I will draw fanart and stuff like that again. It feels good. I love getting so passionate about something that it inspires me in other departments of my life. Yes, time is scarce these days, especially with this whole project of ours to make our apartment not look borderline condemned anymore (LMAO), but… I’m hopeful. Things are getting better in every way imaginable. I’m happy. No, more than that, I’m pumped!

LET’S ACCOMPLISH SOME SHIT . >:o

The Forgotten Capital

I absolutely love this level, so I’m making a post about it because…why not? Went ahead and embedded the theme song for the Forgotten Capital (aka “You Can Hear the Cry of the Planet”) along with some crappy screenshots I took.

*sigh* I wish this was a real place. ( -̩̩̩-̩̩̩-̩̩̩-̩̩̩-̩̩̩ ___ -̩̩̩-̩̩̩-̩̩̩-̩̩̩-̩̩̩ )

090: Nornir

FFXV looks amazing.

Trying to reorganize my blog entries again. Bear with me.

✪ Personal Life ✪

  • Whenever I get sick I sometimes remember that the purpose of the “bug” is to kill me, not to inconvenience me, and it brings home that death is always right around the corner. Also, I am fun at parties.
  • I kind of want to give myself a high five right now because I had this long list of shit I wanted to clean and organize (as I try to do every change of season), and I tackled it today. While I am still semi-sick. But at the same time I kind of want to kick myself in the face because when I’m healthy I never do shit, yet when I’m sick I suddenly find a bunch of energy and invest 4-5 hours into chores. I am too backwards for my own good. D:
  • Halloween is almost here~ That’s the day that I dump a bunch of candy into my pumpkin bowl, turn off all the lights so trick-or-treaters won’t ask me for any, and watch scary movies until I pass out. It’s gonna be NICE. Hopefully. But I never know.
  • 99% of the time when I refer to someone as “my baby” or “my boo” IRL I am talking about either Link or Levi(athan). The cat and the car respectively.

✪ Art & Writing ✪

  • Titles are a headache. I know that “Mythos” is not good enough anymore, yet nothing else seems to be good enough either. Mark suggested having a name for the series (ex: GRRM’s “A Song of Fire and Ice”) and then naming each book based individually (ex: “A Game of Thrones”, “A Feast for Crows”, “A Storm of Swords”, etc.). That’s not a bad idea. In fact, his advice led me to a series name (“The Millennium Sorceress”). The issue though is that I am not even set on the idea of books. I’ll bring that to the next bullet.
  • The more I work on “Mythos” (let’s just stick with the usual title until I am set on “TMS” or anything else), the more it feels like an RPG. And it makes sense. I began this project because I was inspired by RPGs like Final Fantasy and Chrono Cross. I like the whole travelling around the world, meeting party members, and telling stories through dialog and battles. Actually, I’m waiting for RPG Maker VX Ace to go back on sale again so I can start working with it. It’s about $60 on Steam right now, but it was $15 once. So I’ll wait. Until then I’ll try “Mythos” as an RPG instead. Let’s see if that helps this horrible writer’s block I am dealing with.
  • Nanowrimo is around the corner, but I don’t think I will participate this year. My creative juices are flowing more towards the technical side (drawing, creating maps, making skill trees, etc.) than the writing side. I really am a shit writer. I can’t explain things as beautifully and poetically as the writers I admire. *pouts* Oh well…
  • Drawing comics about the things that are bothering me can be really therapeutic. Oddly enough, it is not revisiting unpleasant things and making them comical that makes me feel relaxed. It is more the freedom to be meticulous. Whipping that ruler out, drawing perfect lines, being uber-cautious with inking–that is the part that makes me feel…in control. I just like the feeling of taking something as chaotic as something I cannot avoid, like misfortune, and making it all neat. Manageable, even. It’s comforting.

✪ Anime & Manga ✪

I tried out the Funimation and Crunchyroll apps for two weeks, and I managed to catch up on a bunch of animes.

  • Monthly Girls’ Nozaki-Kun – I really love this anime. It’s lighthearted. It’s funny. The main character is really easy to relate to while the supporting characters remind me of so many people I know. It’s just a feel-good anime that I can see myself rewatching the moment the series is done. Also, that ending song. It’s so cute and it’s stuck in my head. D:
  • Gintama – I will get the Crunchyroll app just to finish this anime. Seriously. Within the first minute or so I was dying of laughter.
  • Tonari no Seki-kun – Another funny anime. Seki reminds me so much of Mark. He just has an endless supply of tiny toys that he does distracting stuff with. Seriously, we have been living in this apartment for a while and I am still discovering random toys in random places doing random things, and whenever I ask him to explain it he has some elaborate story for why they are there. So, it’s no surprise that he loved the hell out of this anime. It is a pretty cute anime. I just wish it was longer. 😦
  • Naruto Shippuden – Dude, I have not watched this anime in years. I came back to it to see what happened and found out Team 7/Team Kakashi is back together. What the fuck? Wasn’t Sasuke evil? Yeah… hella behind. I found out that Naruto is coming to an end really soon too, so that’s kind of bittersweet. I know Naruto gets shit on a lot (as anything remotely popular does), but…that’s fucking Naruto man. It’s going to be sad to see it go. I never got into One Piece, but I might start checking that anime out so I’m not without a staple shounen series to fall back on. Well…I have Toriko. That counts as shounen, right? Sometimes I forget because Toriko is an adult who is very, extremely manly. But so is Goku and DBZ is shonen anime/manga legend. It’s all good.
  • Dramatical Murder – Eh… Compared to the game it was very tame. I like the music though. I never skipped the opening and closing because I liked the songs a lot. The animation was also nice. I didn’t get to see much of my bb Mink, but it was still OK.
  • Sword Art Online II – Didn’t like it as much as I liked the first. Mark was really into it though.
  • Akame ga Kill! – Started off interesting. Got bored around episode 3 or 4. I might try again another time.
  • High School DxD – …What the fuck did I watch…? Pretty sure it was hentai.
  • The Idol Master – a.k.a. the anime based on the game that made Kentaro Miura stop working on Berserk. LOL. I saw the first episode, and it seemed adorable. I would not mind seeing how the rest goes.

Speaking of Berserk, that manga update. YES. I have been waiting for someone to slap the shit out of Griffith ever since the Eclipse, and I am so glad it was Rickert.  That blatant disrespect at the graveyard of swords too was just… Yeah. He needed the taste slapped out of his mouth. Well, I think he deserves much more than that–MUCH MUCH MORE–but to get pimp slapped at his own tea party by a kid in front of all of his friends was pretty nice. 10/10. Not okay with that ‘Til’ Next Time’ though.

✪ Video Games ✪

  • I doomed my FFVII replay by going to that fucking Northern Cave. Now that I completed the game I just have no motivation to do anything else. It kind of sucks. There are still weapons to beat and special items to get, but I have this sense of closure from completing the game. Maybe I’ll play tomorrow or something. IDK.
  • Alien: Isolation was amazing. Please don’t listen to IGN’s review. The person who reviewed it was bitter about constantly dying and tried to blame the game for it. The thing is… he started the game on hard mode. Of course you will die a lot if you choose to play a game in hard mode. What were you expecting? Additionally, he mentioned his tactic of hiding in the vents to avoid confronting a xenomorph, but xenomorphs travel through the vents. That’s like trying to avoid getting hit by a car by standing in the middle of the street. I’m sorry, but it irks the hell out of me when companies give poor reviews to games because they suck at it. A lot of people who worked hard to make a superior game can lose money and their jobs because of shit reviews like that. It’s just really irresponsible journalism. No one should never blame the quality of a product on their inability to handle it. I hate seeing reviews like that on sites like Amazon (“This product clearly says to do this but I’m going to do the opposite and bitch about it online.”), and I especially hate seeing reviews like that when it comes to games. /rant
  • My gaming life is still being consumed by Borderlands 2. This weekend was free gold weekend, so I took the opportunity to input a fuckton of shift codes. I have 100+ keys, new skins, new heads. It’s really nice. Lately, I’ve been grinding/farming with Maya in hopes of catching her up to Gaige, and I’m getting kind of close. Maya is level 13. Gaige is level 19. I just have to take my time around Tundra Express, and hope that I don’t run into any badass anythings. If I stick with the varkids and a few basic bandits I can level up pretty fast. It’s not a big deal though. Gaige is still my main character. I’m just curious about Maya’s phaselocking potential. 😛
  • Don’t talk to me about Hyrule Warriors, Super Smash Bros Wii U or Bayonetta 2 because I don’t have a Wii U and I don’t know when I’ll get one tbh (Yes, I know SSB is on the 3DS but I can’t afford that one either).
  • I played the Theatrhythm: Curtain Call demo, and it was so fun! I really want to play the full version. 200 Final Fantasy songs? Are you kidding me? I need that right now. ;_;
  • LET’S TALK ABOUT DRAGON AGE: INQUISITION THO.
  • Praying to the video game gods rn so I save up $400 and get a PlayStation 4.  I don’t want to imagine my life without Final Fantasy XV, Final Fantasy Type-0, The Witcher 3, Kingdom Hearts 3. What else am I missing? A bunch of games, I am sure. PLUS all the PSX classics. Just thinking about playing Xenogears in the immediate future makes me want to dance around. *sigh* Just gotta work hard. Keep tackling bills, taking care of home, and saving. I’ll get there soon enough.

✪ Books ✪

Nothing to really add here. I haven’t ventured beyond the same books I piled at my bedside last time. I’ve just been caught up in other hobbies. I am really looking forward to The World of Ice and Fire though. Like, REALLY looking forward to it. I’ve been annoying Mark with my excitement for it. Whoops. LOL. The same goes for the Chrono Cross Ultimania. I have my eyes on that too. It’s been out forever, but I’m deciding now to say “fuck it” and add it to my collection. Soon.

✪ Music ✪

  •  Is it safe to say that the Super Smash Bros. soundtracks are like the Lollapaloozas for game composers? Seriously, Nobuo Uematsu, Masashi Hamauzu, Yoko Shimomura, Yasunori Mitsuda,  Koji Kondo, Motoi Sakuraba, Keiichi Okabe, Mahito Yokota–LEGENDS. So, it’s safe to say that I am listening to a lot of SSB songs lately. The greatest thing is hearing my favorite composers revamp songs I have been listening to since I was a kid. I never get tired of it. I can hear 1,000 renditions of the Super Mario theme and still get an overwhelming urge to whip out my old school consoles.
  •  Kingdom Hearts 2.5 OST. EVERYTHING HAS BEEN REMADE WITH MORE VIOLINS. If this is a sample of what Yoko Shimomura is going to do with Final Fantasy XV then I am hyped as fuck. There are so many game soundtracks that I need in my life right now. It’s not even funny anymore. -_-

✪ TV & Movies ✪

Man, I don’t even know where to start.

  • South Park – The biggest premiere for me. Of course, SP is as funny and controversial as ever. The thing I am loving most, though, is the continuity. It’s neat that they’re carrying clues from episode to episode until the inevitable conclusion at the season finale. This is SP though. They might string the audience along just to come to an anticlimactic conclusion. Yeah, I can definitely see that happening. LOL
  • The Legend of Korra – Hilarious as always until something destroys my soul.
  • Grey’s Anatomy – …Why am I still watching this show? Seriously, Yang is gone. There is no point for me anymore.
  • Sons of Anarchy – JAAAAX!!! *kicks table over* GEMMAAAA!!! *kicks over all of the chairs* CHARMING IN GENERAL!!!! *flying kick to the window*
  • Gotham –  Not a bad show at all. I hate that I keep missing episodes though. I would be so far behind in everything were it not for Hulu.
  • American Horror Story – Never fails to creep me out. I love it.
  • SNL – Can we just have an entire hour about the nightclubs that Stefon goes to?
  • ANTM – Two words: beard weave. Please stop, Tyra. XDD
  • Forever – Interesting.
  • Agents of Shield – So far so good. If anything happens to Simmons and/or Fitz I am going to…do nothing. Just be really sad. :/
  • The Flash – !!!
  • Gracepoint– I LOVE THIS SHOW. Mark makes fun of me for taking it so seriously, but it is not a joke to me, and he knows there will be trouble if he changes the channel while Gracepoint in on. So much trouble.
  • Total Divas – Never really sat down and watched this show until recently. It’s…eye-opening, I guess? I honestly don’t feel like I’m learning anything about the wrestlers because everything feels scripted. It’s nice to see more of Naomi though. She needs that Divas championship like yesterday. I adore AJ, yes, but Naomi is more athletic to me. I need her to own it at some point.
  • Drunk History – I never get tired of this show. I think I watched a few episodes like three times already because they’re so funny and insightful. Watch it. Even if you’re like me and you rarely drink (or don’t drink at all) just watch it. It’s hilarious.
  • WWE – Last but not least this trash (LOL). Okay, I’ll admit. I was marking the fuck out when The Rock showed up. And he was in Brooklyn?! Yeah, I was happy about that. I’m bummed about Roman Reigns STILL being gone though. Dean Ambrose is filling the void he left, but with John Cena being forced into the Dean and Seth feud it just makes everything kind of…ugh. I don’t hate John Cena. I’m just tired of him. Yes, we get it. Hustle, you can’t see me, never give up. Whatever. Then again, I know he is mainly there for the little kids who never get tired of him, and not so much the adult fans who want  more interesting characters. That is where Dean comes in. He pretty much doesn’t give a shit and does whatever he wants, so I think that is why older fans adore him. Anyway, what’s next? Hell in the Cell? I’m rooting for Dean Ambrose to win. Still, I kind of want Brock Lesnar to show up and chew through the cell or something just to fuck everything up. That would be great.

I haven’t seen any new movies lately. I REALLY want to see Gone Girl.

✪ Whatever Else/Closing ✪

*phew* That was a lot!

Well, this week is going to be a long one for me. There is so much to get done. I only hope that with the spare time I find in between all of the annoying stuff that I can work on an RPG. If not “Mythos” then at least a brand new idea. I’d rather not start a new one though. Yeah…I have nothing else to add. Gonna tackle some crap and then start working on some stuff. I *might* upload some drawings soon too. At last, I have some sketches that I consider decent enough to share. So I will share them soon. Hopefully.

Take care, everyone. ♥

Final Fantasy VII Screenshots: Pt 2

2014-09-28_00080

So… I accidentally beat the game?

I was supposed to go to the Northern Cave to do some grinding and farming, and I ended up fighting Jenova Absolute…then Bizarro Sephiroth…then One-Winged Angel Sephiroth…then topless Sephiroth…and then it all kind of happened so quickly. This isn’t the first time I did something dumb like this (“Hey, let me grind in this final dungeon aaand the game is done) , but oh well. I still have Emerald Weapon and Ruby Weapon to beat as well as achievements to unlock. I’ll just post those later on. -_-

Onwards.

Final Fantasy VII Screenshots: Pt. 1

2014-09-19_00008

I’m really happy with this menu gradient.

Not too long ago I downloaded FFVII via Steam because there was a massive FF summer sale that I could not pass up. Well…I had to pass up FFVIII. FFVII was and still is my favorite game in the FF series, so it all works out. Plus there is a 99.99% chance that I will download FFVIII after this replay. So… Yeah…

Really, I am loving this chance to return to childhood days of playing Final Fantasy for hours. Both my PSX and PS2 are trash now, so I haven’t played FFVII – FFIX in many years. Thank you, based Steam! Also, thanks for providing a screenshot feature that I am abusing shamelessly!

Anyway, here it is. A bunch of screenshots with dumb commentaries.

Proceed with caution. I get annoying when it comes to video games AND there are spoilers.

✪ Personal Life ✪

Well, things are improving. Finally.

The issue with HR was sorted out with surprisingly zero issues… minus the long time it took. I wish I could say the same for USPS. It turns out that the reason I haven’t been receiving mail for three months is because some genius marked my home as “unoccupied” in their system. The manager at USPS was baffled. My landlord was baffled. Mark and I were definitely baffled. It was just…a really stupid and senseless mistake. The thing is that you cannot mark a home as unoccupied unless the carrier speaks with the landlord about changing the status. Well, the landlord said she never spoke to any carrier about the status of our apartment, better yet it being unoccupied. Like us, she thought it was stupid that they would change the status when we have been living in the same place for like six years now. As before the carriers and workers at USPS had zero explanation for their fuck ups besides some shrugged shoulders and promises to “look into it”. I don’t want anyone to get fired over this, but the person responsible should at least get mandatory retraining or something. This is not a mistake where a slap on the wrist is sufficient. They really screwed A LOT of shit up for me. Then again, if the head of our local USPS is practically brain dead then I cannot be surprised that their carriers and front desk clerks are not far behind. We spoke to them at least twice a week for the last three months, yet it took them THIS long to notice the issue. Management said it wasn’t difficult to research…so…what the fuck? I’m especially livid about it all because I asked them multiple times to check the status of our address. I kept asking: “Can you see if there is a redirection notice? An illegal change of address? Is our home marked as unoccupied or something?” And they kept telling me he same shit: “No. We don’t see any issues.”

Do you want a karate chop to the neck?
Because that is how you get a karate chop to the neck.

*ShojiMeguro_DeepBreathDeepBreath.mp3*

Ranting aside, it was all sorted out finally. We woke up to three months worth of mail stuffed in our mailbox, minus everything that was sent back–which we received a lot of calls about. I am still missing a package but luckily it was just some cell phone covers that I paid like $2.00. Actually, nothing was over $5 save for my Final Fantasy VII Ultimania book that took the longest to arrive. I ordered it back in March. Just got in this month. I did contact all of the sellers and paid them for all of the refunds and re-shipments they made which made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. No sarcasm. It really did. Every single seller was shocked when I offered to pay them for the packages that arrived. They said most people would just take it and not say anything. It was nice to be called an honest person, but it’s still pretty weird to me that someone would do otherwise. Theft doesn’t stop becoming theft because the person you steal from is unaware of it. This seems more like common sense than integrity to me.

Anyway, I’m glad all of that is out of the way. Here is a pic of the FFVII Ultimania BTW:

20140821_181244

I really love it! The only problem is that I can’t read Japanese for shit, so all I can really do is rely on online translations and the pretty pictures inside. My favorite part of the book is the listing of every weapon and accessory. IT IS FUCKING GLORIOUS. I would love to get the Chrono Cross Ultimania next, but after this whole issue with USPS and the fact that it’s like $40…. I’ll have to wait. But it’s going to be next. And, dammit, I will learn Japanese if it kills me!

Okay, that’s all I have to contribute from my personal life.

Actually, one more thing. In this past week alone I had two dreams about Dean Ambrose and one about Roman Reigns.  In the first dream I had about Dean Ambrose he was buying makeup at a flea market for some reason? I remember telling him that I was getting bored, so he was like “Ok, I’ll drop you off at home” and he drove me home on a roller coaster. LOL. Okay? The second one was equally weird. I dreamt that I was crying about something and Dean just showed up and said: “Come on. I’ll get you some tea at my condo.” So we take the bus to his condo and it was in this Las Vegas-looking building that was in the middle of the fucking suburbs where I live. So, I went to his condo and we were drinking tea and he was ranting to me about Seth Rollins betraying him. Even in my dream, I said something along the lines of: “Dean, what does this have to do with anything?” and he said it was really similar. No, Dean. No. LOL. As for the Roman Reigns one, I was in this militarized group that was fighting bandits in the future (I blame Borderlands 2 for this one), and Roman Reigns was a war hero that no one saw for years, and I stumbled on him sitting in the snow, just chillin and shit. So, I was like: “Dude, everyone is looking for you,” and he just shrugged and started talking to me about how weird it was that Earth had like ten moons???

Seriously, what the fuck? My dreams are so dumb. Like, I’m glad that I can remember most of them (or my dream diary would be useless), but they provide little to no insight on anything besides the fact that I am too deep into WWE and I should lay off video games for a little bit.

Okay, that’s it. -_-

✪ Art & Writing ✪

I’ve been doing plenty of writing and, surprise, it’s not “Mythos”! *throws confetti*

I am working on a comic book about a super-heroine. I am sure that with the gazillion superheroes between DC and Marvel alone that her name and powers will be nothing unique, but my mission is not to be unique. It is to just tell a story.

I am still working on Mythos but not as much as I would like to. I might be avoiding it on purpose. Everything is getting really sad in the story. Actually, the whole story is like Nier sad. I’m not about to change it or anything, but I guess deep down I wanted to work on something a little more upbeat.

That’s been about it.

✪ Anime & Manga ✪

I really have nothing to add here. Aside from the recent Berserk update, I haven’t really been reading any mangas.

As far as animes, SAILOR JUPITER HAS GRACED MY LIFE WITH HER RE-PRESENCE.

That’s all that matters. ( ; w ; )

✪ Video Games ✪

LOTS of Borderlands 2. I am playing as a mechromancer/Gaige. I started off as a siren/Maya, but I ended up replaying everything as a mechromancer once I got my siren to Sanctuary. I really love Deathtrap a lot although the phaselock ability is pretty neat too. BTW, Mark tried playing with a psycho and he told me that he shouted: “Look me in the eyes when I scream at your soul!” or something really disturbing like that. I could not stop laughing. He also told me about a story where the psycho character attempted to hold a conversation with Maya, but could not articulate his thoughts, so he shouted: “I’m the conductor of the poo-poo train!” I’m so done with Borderlands 2. LOL. That game can go from dark to hilarious so fast, especially when Claptrap gets involved. And half the shit psychos yell are disturbingly funny too. Yeah, I love that series. I hope it goes on forever.

Really, I’ve been thinking about that new LoZ 2015 game and The Witcher 3 nonstop. How am I going to get a Wii U and PS4 within the next year? And then there is *ANOTHER* 3DS coming out with Xenoblade Chronicles and customizable plates and customizable menus. The moment I heard the news I pretty much said “Wow? Seriously, Nintendo? You guys are dicks!” and then I immediately started planning ways to get it anyway. LOL. I hate video games but I also love video games but I also hate video games but I also love video games. This is not a good relationship to have with anything.

✪ Books ✪

At this point,  I am going through my bookshelf and rereading all of the books I am fond of…which has pretty much been Haruki Murakami and a bunch of classics. I realized that I have a ton of workbooks for different languages that I haven’t even touched yet. I have the German, Japanese, and ASL books set aside so I can start brushing up on them again. Mark is willing to learn German with me for the sole purpose of speaking German angrily at inappropriate times. That should be fun. I know German is often considered the “angry-sounding language”, but I really like the sound of it. It’s also way easier to learn than most languages I’ve come across. It would be nice to be fluent in something else besides English.

✪ Music ✪

I really love the Guardians of the Galaxy OST. Not just the “Awesome Mix”, but also the score. I’m pretty much obsessed with “To the Stars”, “Black Tears”, and “Groot Spores”. “To the Stars” is perfect writing and drawing music. I pretty much keep it on loop while I’m working on one or the other. Outside of that I haven’t really been listening to much else.

Yes, I am aware that the VMAs aired recently, but outside of Beyonce’s performance I really didn’t care to catch up on whatever else happened there. BTW, I’m laughing because people really think that “The Beygency” is not legit. Like, some idiot decided to make fun of Blue Ivy’s hair on BET and got ruined by the beyhive faster than (s)he could apologize. Do you think this is a motherfucking game? The beyhive is not playing.

But that is not new news. Onwards.

OBSESSED WITH FKA TWIG’S LP1. OBSESSED. You know you’re going to be in love with an album when you get hooked on the prelude. LOL. I cannot recommend it enough. It’s like Aaliyah crossed with Massive Attack crossed with some dubstep but not an intolerable amount. Beautiful.

✪ TV & Movies ✪

I finally saw Guardians of the Galaxy! I’m already planning to see it again.

I can’t even pick a favorite character at this point. Peter “Starlord” Quill is a funny cutie with superb taste in music. Gamora is a gorgeous assassin cutie. Groot is a precious wooden cutie. Rocket Raccoon is just an all-around cutie. Drax is a cutie for so many reason but mostly because he’s oblivious to the point of being adorable and he’s Batista. I love them all. I even love Ronan and Nebula as evil cuties. Perfect ensemble is perfect. And cuties. * w *

Outside of shameless Guardians of the Galaxy fangirling I haven’t really been watching much. A bunch of season premieres are starting in September so I’ll have to do a bit of waiting before I can start catching up on some shows again. I’m looking forward to South Park the most. This summer has been pretty much nonstop adoration for Stick of Truth and rewatching every South Park episode. I never get tired of that show. Ever. From the looks of things, I don’t get tired of the game either. That Goldeneye-type South Park game for the N64 was pretty serious too.

✪ Whatever Else/Closing ✪

Hmm…I don’t know what else to add. I’m just working on my projects, playing my games, the usual. I make it all sound like it’s nothing but I do not want to imagine a life where I cannot write, draw, and/or play games on a daily basis. That would just suck more balls than…whatever or whoever sucks a lot of balls.

I’m still pretty bummed about Robin Williams, but reading the Time magazine dedicated to him made me feel better. For so long I relied on comedians like him to get me through rough times, and I don’t think I should just disregard his legacy by writing him off as someone who makes me sad. There are so many stories about him going out of his way to make people smile, even when he was suffering. I think as a lifelong fan of his the best way I could honor this…effing genius of a performer is to cherish his work. That should be his legacy, and not the heinous mental illness that took his life and the lives of so many great people.

So… I have nothing else to add except treasure the people who make you smile. Seriously. It could be your parent or that neighbor who always has a funny story to tell. It doesn’t matter. Just treasure the people who give you something to look forward to while they are here. Yeah…that’s all I have to add.

I’ll (probably) feel better next time. ^_^;

✪ Personal Life ✪

Let me begin with this: I fucking hate mosquitos and learning that there is one in my home from all the itchy welts that popped up out of fucking nowhere is irritating as fuck. It’s fine. Link will kill it soon enough. Bye, Felicia.

Outside of mosquit0-loathing, life has been…hot. Every year I tell myself I will not cut my hair in the summer, and every summer I find myself standing outside of barber shops and contemplating it. This year, though, I will hold off. It’s a pain to become dependent on bands, clips, and pins for the next 2-3 months but…anything beats a sweaty neck. I mean, sweating in general grosses me out but when the back of my neck is sweaty it makes me want to scream. Another fine example of me being overemotional about silly things, but completely unemotional about the things I am supposed to express some feeling towards. *shrug* Oh well.

Ah, what else? Debating about getting another cat. Our only concern is Link. He is very territorial. There are many times when he’ll claim something of ours as his own and he’ll bite us if we try to take it. Yep…big ol’ adorable douchelord. LOL.

My microwave and stove decided to die at the same time. Yay!

The final thing. This probably belongs in the art section, but fuck it. My new obsession has become decoden. It started when I was looking for some cute covers for my 3DS, and it ended with me realizing that I could make my own covers for 1/4 of the average price. All you really need is a clear plastic cover for like $2 on Amazon and some decoden with glue. Websites like Sophie & Toffee offer a huge variety of inexpensive decoden. I love all the pearls, rhinestones, diamonds, and bows. Anything pink with leopard-print is cute too. It’s all really fun. I would recommend it to anyone who wants to decorate their phones, handheld consoles, laptops, etc. Of course, practice is necessary. I am a colossal newbie so I am still working hard and refusing to show anything in public until I am happy with it. When I am through, though, I would love to possess the skills to make something like this or this. Ah! Cutesy things will be the death of me! *_*

That is all for now. If I find any other weird hobbies to get into I’ll post about it. XD

✪ Art & Writing ✪

Art has been…technical. A lot of maps. A lot of poorly sketched cities/towns. Things like that. The more I work on Mythos, the more I realize that a world that massive needs a bit of planning before I start delving into the story.

Speaking of story, I somehow went from a set title and a set amount of books to pretty much tossing it all in the air. At this point Mythos is just a working title because Odin is no longer the main character. In fact, he does not even exist until the second book. The biggest premise of Mythos now is Elda’s life over her 1,000 years. I would like one book for every 100 years that she lives. Naturally, Telluria changes a great deal over the course of the story. It starts off Westeros-ish, turns Ivalice-ish, and then becomes heyday Zanarkand-ish before it all goes to shit–much like Zanarkand. LOL

Still…I am worried that I am biting off more than I can chew. Writing and reading about immortals or anyone else who lives for a very long time is enjoyable. That is all that matters, right? Enjoy it and write the type of story I would want to read.

✪ Anime & Manga ✪

In terms of anime, It’s been 1990s Sailor Moon, Sailor Moon Crystal, Knights of Sidonia, Sword Art Online II, and season 2 of Free. Oh, and Dirty Pair. I haven’t seen that anime in years, so it is nice to rewatch Kei and Yuri being the adorable failures that they are. LOL. Manga-wise, I am still waiting for another Berserk update. I am trying to find another manga to get into but nothing has really piqued my interest. Oyasumi Punpun kind of wore me out emotionally by the time I was done. This time around I want to read something more upbeat like a shoujo manga. I’ll do my hunting later. -.-

✪ Video Games ✪

I downloaded FFVII on Steam for five bucks, and that has pretty much been my video game life ever since. I also managed to get Sonic 2 for $3-4 but that Chemical Plant Zone level pisses me off like nothing else. It has been this way since time immemorial. The first time I played Sonic 2 like 5,000 years ago I zipped through Emerald Hill Zone, got stuck on Chemical Plant Zone for like five days, and zipped through the rest of the game once I managed to beat it. WHY. What messes me up are those blocks that disappear and return, and those moving platforms that I always miss. So my dumbass always end up falling in the ocean and drowning. Fun. *sigh* Oh, well. At least I am still a somewhat natural at FFVII. Really, it is just an RPG at the end of the day. Unless you just suck at forming strategies then RPGs are usually child’s play compared to other types of video games. At least to me.

Um, what else? Portal 2 is on sale too! $6! Of course, it’s great to see that GLaDOS is still a raging asshole.

Yep… Summertime is the best time for poor/cheap gamers. So many price reductions! ♥

The cheapest way to enjoy games though? Youtube. I live on Youtube because of all the game walkthroughs on there. The first one I buckled down and watched was Drakengard 3. Yeah, I couldn’t wait anymore. I am not getting a PS4 any time soon. Anyway, I loved it! Zero is my queen! Every time she said something I just had to sigh and say: “You’re amazing, Zero.” LOL. In type Drakengard-Nier fashion there were different branches to the story. I want to say branch A is the “true” branch because it pretty much explains the start of The Cult of the Watchers in Drakengard, but branch D seems like the best one to me. Besides, the novella pretty much confirms –SPOILER: the existence of One’s brother— so the fact that he does not show up in branch D does not mean that he does not exist. Also, I like any branch where — SPOILER: Zero and Mikhail survives.  Overall, not bad at all. I haven’t watched any of the DLCs yet but I will.

Beyond, DOD3 I watched Burial at Sea and Deadpool as well. I want to watch Lightning Returns but the playlist has like 90 40-minute videos. Fuck it. I’ll watch it then move on to Assassin’s Creed 4 and Tomb Raider. Once I get the funds I’ll actually play some of these games. They look so fun! BTW: I recommend GameOXO. (S)he plays well and there is no annoying commentaries to deal with. I know some people like commentaries but…eh. Only a few people are actually funny. Other ones are just meh. It depends, I guess. I hear a lot about pewdiepie but I haven’t watched any of his videos yet. I’ll try.

Okay, that wraps up gaming. Lots of good games to play/watch, so I’m happy in this department! ^_^

✪ Music ✪

I’ve been listening to the same stuff on repeat. As usual. I do like Lana Del Rey’s “Ultraviolence” album a lot, but that’s pretty much been it.

✪ TV & Movies ✪

AJ Lee is back. Y2J is back. Roman Reigns is still the fierce king of my soul. Yep, all is good WWE-wise.

As for Game of Thrones, that season was…meh. If it is true that they’re going to wrap up the show without waiting for GRRM to release the last two books then I am really worried. The liberties they took so far have been pretty disappointing. It is not even a stay-true-to-the-book thing because some shows and movies can better then the books they are based on. It is more of a “Okay, so you’re really going to do that?” thing. Maybe it will all piece together. We’ll see.

I’m still into the 2011 Journey to the West TV show from China. The same goes for the JttW movie from Stephen Chow. Yes, this has been a very JttW year though some of it has been disappointing. Oh well. Can never get enough Sun Wukong.

Saw the new Transformers movie. Let’s just say that if anyone ever wants to torture information out of me feel free to play that movie on a neverending loop. 😐

Yeah…that’s about it. Tonight I plan to watch “Extant” because (a) Halle Berry plays the main character, and (b) it’s a sci-fi TV show with an interesting premise. Let’s see how that goes.

✪ Whatever Else/Closing ✪

My birthday arrives in nine days. *shudders* Yeah, once I hit 25 birthdays stopped becoming fun. I mean, Mark is 30 next year. My bb is getting old, and I’m always two years behind him. Blah. What can I do, right? All I want is to improve as a human being every single day. I’ve learned that it is pointless to say things like “I want to ____ when I’m 27!” or “I better have _____ when I’m 30!” Life is one of those things you can never plan for. Looking back, I had books upon books of plans that ended up in the trash because life pretty much said “nope” and curb stomped every plan I had without mercy. I am done with destinations and deadlines. I have dreams, I have goals, and I have infinite means of becoming a better person. That is the best I can do.

…By the way, I am already receiving the dreaded: “Oh, you’re turning 27 this year? When are you going to have a baby?” questions, and it makes me want to break my face on a brick wall. Please stop. ;_;

All of that said, I am off! Lame entry–or at least lamer than the usual lameness. I know.

Take care~
